DEVELOPMENT OF LOGISTIC CENTRES

By virtue of paragraph 642 of its Resolution No 1020 of 17 October 2006 “On approving of Measures for the Implementation the Programme 2006-2008 of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania”, the Government of the Republic of Lithuania assigned the Ministry of Transport and Communications, together with other competent ministries, a task to prepare the feasibility study regarding the location of public logistic centres, draw up special plans and select locations of the logistic centres in Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipėda regions.

In 2007, budget funds have been allocated for the drawing up of the public logistic centres location plan (Resolution No 146 of 24 January 2007, of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania). By the assignment of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Transport Investment Directorate performs functions of managing authority with respect to these allocations.

When carrying out a tender within the first stage of the measure referred to in the Government’s Resolution – Drawing-up of the Public Logistic Centres Location Plan (Carrying out of Feasibility Study) – the Directorate and this consulting company have concluded a contract on 7 February 2007, under which the work timescale will be 5 months.
